When working with a limited budget it's key to incorporate as many of your existing furniture pieces as possible. Re-think getting rid of the sofa, and instead consider purchasing a slipcover. Slipcovers come in many standard sizes, but the best bet is to call the manufacturer of your sofa and see if they still carry slipcovers for your specific model. Many time they won't be listed on websites but are still available.

See a dresser at a thrift store that has seen better days? Don't rule it out. If the size is right and the structure is sound consider spray painting the piece and attaching new hardware. Presto! You have a new piece of furniture for a fraction of the price.
